Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information DealPounce ("we", "us") collects when you visit this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: this is a browse-only site — no account, no checkout, no newsletter — so we collect very little.
1. Information we collect
- Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical data for each request: IP address, browser/user-agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. We use these logs only for security and to keep the site running.
- Outbound click counts. When you click through to Amazon, we record which product was clicked and when. These records contain no name, e-mail, IP address or any other personal identifier — they're anonymous tallies we use to understand which deals people find useful.
- Nothing else. We don't ask for or store names, e-mail addresses, payment details or account data. Any purchase happens entirely on Amazon.com under Amazon's Privacy Notice.
2. Cookies
We do not set advertising or analytics cookies of our own. Two kinds of cookies can appear when you use the site:
- Essential cookies. A session cookie is used only in the administration area to keep the site owner logged in. Regular visitors browsing deals don't need it.
- Amazon affiliate cookies. This site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a product link and land on Amazon.com, Amazon sets cookies in your browser so that qualifying purchases can be attributed to this site and a commission paid to us — at no extra cost to you. These cookies belong to and are controlled by Amazon; see Amazon's Privacy Notice and its cookie preferences for details and opt-out options.
3. How we use information
We use the data above to operate and secure the website, to see which deals are popular so we can curate better ones, and to comply with the rules of the Amazon Associates Program. We do not sell, rent or trade any visitor information, and we don't use it for profiling.
4. Third-party services
- Amazon — destination of all product links and provider of product data (via the Amazon Product Advertising API) and affiliate tracking, as described above.
- Web hosting — our hosting provider processes server logs on our behalf as described in section 1.
- Google Fonts — the site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers and Google receives the technical data inherent to that request (such as your IP address).
If we ever add analytics or other services that change this policy, we'll update this page first.
5. Data retention
Server logs are kept for the short period our hosting provider retains them. Anonymous click counts are kept as long as they're useful for curating deals. Since neither is tied to your identity, there is nothing that could single you out to delete — but see section 7 for how to reach us with any request.
6. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
7. Your rights & contact
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Given how little we collect, most requests won't have matching data on our side — but we take every inquiry seriously. Write to contact@dealpounce.site with the subject "Privacy" and we'll respond.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
